The Larks hosted the Pirates of North Central Missouri College this weekend where they would end up splitting the series 2-2. With the split the Larks record now sits at 6-5 on the season. They will now get ready to host NOC-Tonkawa on Tuesday afternoon at Oswald Field beginning at 1:00 PM. Â
Game 1 Recap
In Game 1, the Larks fans were given a great comeback win as the Larks trailed 5-2, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. That is when the Lark bats came alive as they added four runs and went ahead 6-5, courtesy of an RBI triple from
Tate Winfield (So. Kerrville, Texas), an RBI single from
Grant Bloyer (So. Winfield, Kan.), an RBI single from
Sean Maple (Fr. South Australia, AUS.), and an RBI single from
Peyton Niemann (Fr. Mount Hope, Kan.).Â
Edgar Vera (Fr. Carolina, PR) would shut the door on a comeback from the Pirates in the top of the seventh, and secure the Larks the victory.Â
Dane Milburn (So. Lincoln, Neb.) would get the start on the mound for Hesston as he went 5 strong innings, giving up four earned runs on two strikeouts. Â
Game 2 Recap
In game 2, the Pirates took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after scoring off of Larks starter
Easton Unruh (Fr. El Dorado, Kan.). Hesston got on the board in the bottom of the second when
Tate Winfield singled home a run to make the score 2-1. In the bottom of the fourth,
Tate Winfield added another RBI single to his stat line to make the score 2-2.Â
Robert Salcedo (So. San Juan, PR) reached on an error that would score a run in the fourth inning, bringing the score to 3-2, then
Ryusei Hando (So. Hyogo, JPN) drew a bases loaded walk to extend the lead to 4-2. In the top of the fifth the Pirates tied the game up at 4-4, after scoring one run off of
Easton Unruh, and Larks relieverÂ
Brayden Ketley (Fr. Wichita, Kan.). In the bottom of the fifth the Larks would add two runs on a 2-run double by
Kansuke Okada (Fr. Osaka, JPN) to put the Larks up 6-4. The Pirates would an another run in the sixth, but in the seventh
Ian Lecki (So. Overland Park, Kan.) would close out the game to help the Larks secure the victory. Â
Game 3 Recap
In game 3, the Pirates would control the game early and not let go of the lead during the game. Hesston was able to add a few runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when
Natty Solomon (So. Harrisonburg, VA) had an RBI single,
Kansuke Okada got an RBI after being hit by a pitch, and
Tate Winfield singled home a run to make the score 10-3. NCMC would add another run in the seventh inning, which would end of giving them the win 11-3.Â
Shoei Imazumi (Fr. Ota, JPN) got the start for the Larks and went 4 innings giving up seven earned runs. Â
Game 4 Recap
In game 4, both teams showed a lot of offense in the first few innings of the game. In the top of the first the Pirates would score four runs to take a 4-0 lead into the bottom half of the inning. In the bottom of the second the Larks trailed 5-1, they went on to score six runs in the inning to take 7-5 lead, after clutch at-bats by
Robert Salcedo and
Natty Solomon as they both had RBI's in the inning. The Pirates would go ahead in the top of third as they added five runs to take the 10-7 lead. Hesston would only add one more run in the game which came in the fourth on an RBI fielder's choice by
Natty Solomon. They would fall by a score of 13-8, Larks starter
Cayden Diccion (Fr. Piedmont, Okla.) would get the loss. Â
