The Larks faced off with the Threshers last night inside Yost Center, where they would go on to win 40-38 in a tight game to the very end. Â This win moves the Larks overall record to 2-3 on the season. Â
The game started off slow by both teams as the score at the end of the first quarter was 8-6 in favor of Bethel. Â The Threshers would extend their lead out to 15-8 with 5:16 left in the half. Â The Larks would close out the first half on a 4-0 run as
Sydney Bontrager (So. Milford, Neb.) and
Destiny Kessay (So. McNary, Ari.) both made baskets, as Hesston trailed 15-12 at halftime. Â The third quarter showed both teams going back and forth with scoring,
Sierra Campos (Fr. Wichita, Kan.) would go on to sink a couple of free throws in the quarter as the Larks tailed 32-28 going into the fourth. Â In the fourth,
Sydney Bontrager grabbed her ninth rebound of the game, this rebound put here in the top ten in career rebounds in school history! Â With 2:33 left in the game,
Destiny Kessay drained a three pointer to tie up the game at 36-36. Â
Sydney Bontrager would then go on and sink two free throws to put the Larks up 38-36. Â With just 6 seconds on clock,
Kirah Stepps (Fr. Wichita, Kan.) drove to basket to score the game winning layup as the Larks would go on to win 40-38.
Destiny Kessay had another big game last night as she was the leading scorer with 17 points and she added 7 steals as well. Â
Sydney Bontrager recorded her first double-double of the season as she had 12 points and 11 boards, she now has five consecutive games of 10+ rebounds. Â
