Salina, Kan. -
The Larks took a trip to Salina, Kansas for a DH versus KWU JV last night and they were able to come away with a DH sweep. Â They won game one 15-7 and game two 22-2, they now hold a season record of 15-16. Â
GAME 1
The Larks got on the board on the first pitch of the game when
Dawson Winter crushed a home run to put the Larks up 1-0. Â In the top of the second inning,
Halen David hit a solo shot to give the Larks a 2-0 lead. Â In the top of the third, the Larks found themselves down 3-2, until
Dawson Winter drove in his second run of the game on an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3. Â In the top of the fifth, Hesston would put up 8 runs, as they led 15-6. Â They would go on to take the game by a final score of 15-7,
Dawson Winter had a huge day with his bat as he finished 3-4 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. Â
Josh Wilson would go on to secure the win in relief for the Larks as he finished out the fourth inning without giving up a run.Â
GAME 2
Hesston would go on to absolutely dominate this game as they put up 22 runs on 16 hits as they beat KWU 22-2. Â
Kauy Kuhn hit a 2-run home run in the second inning to extend their lead to 6-0. Â In the fifth inning, the Larks would go on to score 11 runs, as
Justin Smith capped the inning off with a 3-run home run. Â Justin now has 6 home runs on the season which puts him in the top ten all time for home runs in a season in Larks Baseball history. Â
Donnie Little drove in two runs in the top of the fifth inning on a single and reaching base on an error. Â
Eli Prine would get the start and the win for the Larks as he went 4.0 innings as he struck out nine batters. Â
Yuki Muto finished the game off on the mound for the Larks as he struck out the side in his first outing of the season.Â
