Baseball Takes Two From Highland CC

Highland, Kan. -

The Larks took on Highland CC yesterday afternoon on the road, and were able to come away with two huge wins!  They won game one in a high scoring affair as they took the one run win 11-10, and then they kept their hot hitting going in game two and came away with the 6-3 victory.  Hesston currently holds a season record of 24-19, and will host Highland CC tomorrow for a DH beginning at 1:00 PM.

Game One

The Larks got on the board in the second inning after Halen David came around to score after an error by the right fielder as the Larks tied the game up at 1-1.  Hesston started the third inning off with three straight singles as they loaded up the bases.  Jack Brinkley would drive in two runs as he reached base via error by the second baseman, and they would take a 3-1 lead.  They would go on to add another run in the third inning after Halen David drove a run in after a sac fly to center field, as they extend the lead to 4-1.  In the top of the fifth, the Larks would extend their lead to 5-3 after Justin Smith doubled to right field.  Halen David continued his great game as he traded places with Justin after hitting a double to center field as the Larks led 6-3.  Heading into the top of the seventh the game was tied 7-7 after a Larks error in the fifth allowed some runs to score, but the tie didn't last long as Dawson Winter crushed his tenth home run of season, which also was a grand slam and the Larks took the 11-7 lead!  Eli Prine would come in and shut the door in the bottom of the seventh as the Larks secured the victory!  Kainoa Mane got the start for the Larks on the mound as he went four innings and gave up four runs.  Edgar Vera got the win in relief as he went two innings and gave up zero earned runs.

Game Two

In game two, the Larks saw a big time start on the mound by Easton Unruh as he went five innings and while giving up just one earned run and securing his third win on the season.  Eli Prine would record the save for the Larks as he did his job and shut the door on a potential comeback from the Scotties, Eli tied the all-time saves record for a career with his seventh save of the season.  Hesston continued to crush the ball over the fence in this game like they have done all season as Halen David and Shunsuke Otonashi both hit home runs in this game.

The Larks and the Scotties will face off tomorrow afternoon with first pitch set to begin at 1:00 PM for game one of the DH.  This game can be found on YouTube on Hesston College Media Services 2 channel.  There will be no play-by-play for this game.
