Baseball Splits with Highland CC

The Larks hosted Highland CC yesterday afternoon for their third and fourth game of the series versus the Scotties.  They were able to come away with a split on the day, but took the series as they won three out of the four games.  Hesston took game one 7-3 and fell in game two 17-9, the Larks currently hold a 25-20 record on the season with just eight games left in the regular season.  


Game One

In game one, the Larks came out swinging as Dawson Winter homered in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1.  This was Dawson's 11th home run of the season, and it broke the all-time single season home run record for Hesston Baseball history.  Dawson would hit another home run in the bottom of the sixth inning as he finished with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.  Kauy Kuhn also hit a two run homer in the second inning.  Devin Catlin got the start on the mound for the Larks and pitched six stellar innings allowing just three runs and striking out nine batters.  Eli Prine recorded the save for the Larks which was his eighth of the season, this save breaks the all-time record for saves in a career.  


Game Two

In game two, Eli Prine crushed a three run home run to give the Larks a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.  Heading to the bottom of the seventh, the Larks trailed 10-3 but were able to push across six runs as they trailed only 10-9 through seven innings.  During the seventh inning, Mendy Lopez crushed a three run home run to center field and Donnie Little also had a pinch hit RBI single in the inning as well.  The Larks would go on to fall by a score of 17-9, Brayden Ketley recorded the loss for the Larks as he gave up five earned runs. 


The Larks will be back in action on Wednesday evening as they host MNU JV beginning at 5:00 PM for a DH.
