Hesston, KS -
The Larks hosted MNU JV last night for a DH matchup and were able to sweep the series after taking game one 7-4 and game two 6-3. These wins move the Larks record to 27-20 on the season, they have now broken the record for wins in a season by a Hesston Baseball team (27).
GAME 1
Hesston started game one out slow as they trailed 2-0 heading to the bottom of the second inning.
Justin Smith crushed a solo home run in the bottom of the second, to cut into MNU's lead making it 2-1. They trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the third inning, but quickly added two more runs on a 2-run double by
Eli Prine, as the Larks trailed 4-3 after three innings. In the bottom of the fourth,
Toryn Henshaw crushed a 2-run home run to left field for his first homer of the season, and this tied the game up at 4-4. They would add three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after a couple of singles by
Dawson Winter and
Jack Brinkley. In the top of the seventh,
Eli Prine came in and shut the door on any potential comeback from MNU, as the Larks took the 7-4 victory.
Eli Prine notched his 9th save of the season, which puts him in first in the nation for saves!
GAME 2
The Larks secured the 5-3 victory in just five innings after the game was called due to weather. Hesston took a 5-0 lead after the first inning, thanks to a 2-run single by
Eli Prine, a 2-run homer from Kunsuke Okada, and a run scored by
Dawson Winter on a passed ball. They would take a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the third after
Justin Smith hit his second home run of the DH.
Eli Prine would record another save after sitting down the heart of MNU's order in the top of the fifth inning.
Easton Unruh got the start for the Larks and recorded the victory as he struck out 7 batters, while giving up no runs or hits!
