Pratt, Kan. -Ā The Hesston Larks defeated the Pratt Beavers 2-1 on Wednesday evening, which happened to be the school's sophomore night. Hesston scored first with a goal by sophomore Cheyenne Blaser in the 33rd minute. The Larks led at halftime and then Pratt evened the score early in the second. Midway through the second half the Beavers head coach along with a defender were given their second yellows and sent off the field. Hesston kept the score even with a furious defense and freshman Ashleigh Williams contributed to that by saving eight shots on the night. Sophomore Kira Kumada scored the game winning goal in the 88th minute on an assist by goalie Ashleigh Williams to give Hesston their sixth win on the year. In the historic series versus Pratt Community College the Larks are now 12-11-2 all time. Hesston also with the win moves in reach of the fourth and final playoff spot as there are three regional games to go.Ā Ā Ā

Hesston was able to finish the later part of the game up a man as Pratt had a defender sent off for two yellows. This allowed sophomore Kira Kumada to navigate with more open space and bury the game winning goal in the 88th minute.Ā
