LINCOLN, Neb. – The Hesston College women's basketball team fell to Southeast Community College 72-61 on Saturday (November 9). Despite a solid third quarter, Hesston couldn't keep pace in the final period, where Southeast outscored them 24-10 to secure the win.
Key performers for Hesston included Mariah Hall, who scored 15 points and added two rebounds, and Ashleigh Williams, contributing 9 points and 6 rebounds. Brittany Cato also put in a notable performance with 14 points and 4 rebounds.
Southeast's edge came from their free-throw shooting, converting 23 of 34 attempts, alongside a balanced offense led by Sophie Nguyen's 16 points and 9 rebounds, and Jessica Wertenberger's 17 points and 7 rebounds.
Hesston showed strong defense with 7 blocks, but ultimately, turnovers (24) and fouls (25) proved costly in this hard-fought game.
The Larks will be back in action on Wednesday (November 13) as they host the Bethany College JV at 5:30 p.m.
