In a dominant performance, the Hesston College Larks men's basketball team secured a convincing 70-55 victory over McPherson College JV on November 2. The Larks' defense shone brightly, tallying 10 blocks and 12 steals, which were crucial in limiting McPherson to a 36.8% field goal percentage.
Trent Thompson led the charge with a game-high 20 points, four of which came from beyond the arc, while also grabbing seven rebounds and three steals.
John Probey made his presence felt with a near double-double, contributing 14 points and nine rebounds.
D'Angelo Dawkins was a force on both ends, recording 11 points and seven impressive blocks, while
Terryon Stebbins added 10 points and five rebounds to round out the scoring.
The Larks managed to overcome shooting struggles, making only 28.6% of their field goals, but they excelled at the free-throw line, converting 23 of 31 attempts. Hesston also took advantage of McPherson's 21 turnovers, scoring 17 points off those miscues.
Next, the Larks face a significant challenge as they travel to play Hutchinson Community College on November 5. The matchup promises to be a competitive test for the team as they look to extend their early winning streak.
