Hesston, KS- Larks Baseball had a great weekend splitting a four game set with North Central Missouri College, which included one win each day. Sunday was full of extra innings as game one with nine innings and game two eight innings. By splitting the weekend Hesston is (3-5) in Region play and will host East Central College this coming weekend for a three game set April 13th and 14th. 

 

Game 1: To begin the series Hesston took a 3-1 lead after the first inning. The Pirates climbed back with three in the 3rd and tacked on two more in the 7th to win 6-3. Sophomore Jaden Johannesen led all Lark hitters with three hits while Sophomore Pable Arnaud De La Rosa had two of his own. Canon Stewart pitched 3.1 innings giving up two runs yet none earned. 

Game 2: Freshman Dylan Rich had a fantastic outing on the mound going six innings and giving up three runs while striking out three to secure his second win of the season. Hesston scored in the second, third and put on three runs in the fifth to pad the lead. Freshman Carlos Roman had two hits and a walk. Sophomore Edwin Robles scored two runs on one hit. The larks also took advantage of free bases, walking a season high eight times at the plate, being hit by five pitches and stealing four bases.

 

Game 3: The most eventful game in the series happened the first matchup on Sunday where the Larks down 8-0 in the third inning, climbed all the way back to tie in the bottom of the seventh innings on a 2-run blast from freshman Aidan McCullough (his second of the game) to take it to extra innings. In extras, Aiden again was the hero with a runner on third and punched the ball past the left side of the infield for a walk-off win for Hesston. Freshman Braylan Bell also hit his first home run on the year, and the Larks stole another four bases.  

 

Game 4: The series finale began as a pitching due with the Larks Yuya Omata going 4.2 innings, giving up one run and striking out three. Against the Pirates E. Torrero, who went 6.0 innings also giving up one run and striking out five batters. The Pirates, who struggled on offense all day, finally got the bats going in the top of the inning, plating four runs to split the weekend series.
