HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College volleyball team captured a 3-1 victory over the Bethel College JV team on Friday (September 27). The Larks took down the Threshers in four closely contested sets in front of a packed Yost Center crowd to kickoff Homecoming weekend.
The Threshers took the first set 25-23. The Larks led by as many as four during the match, but a late rally by the Threshers tied things up at 22, before eventually taking the set.
The Larks won the second and third sets 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead in the match. In both sets, the two teams found themselves tied at 23 before Hesston closed them out. The final set was a similar story as the two teams were tied at 21 late, but the Larks rallied to close out the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.
Freshmen Tanaeasia Brackens and Laura Rojas led the Larks with 13 kills each in the match. Setters Audrey Garrison and Brin Hecker were instrumental in the Larks offensive success recording 38 combined assists in the match. Sarahi Paez led the Larks defensively with 19 digs while Brackens recorded four block assists and Anna Franco had one solo block.
