HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball team faced a narrow 48-45 defeat against Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday (Jan. 25). Both teams displayed strong defensive efforts, with KCKCC shooting 29.5% from the field and Hesston not far behind at 30.2%. The Larks fell to 3-15 overall and 1-4 in the KJCCC.
The game remained competitive throughout, with Hesston holding a seven-point lead late in the second quarter before KCKCC mounted a comeback.
Akiva Brown led the Larks with an impressive double-double, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Ashleigh Williams contributed nine points and eight rebounds, while Brittany Cato chipped in with seven points and three steals. Despite these efforts, KCKCC capitalized on key turnovers, scoring 15 points off Hesston's 21 turnovers.
The Larks will continue their homestand on Wednesday (Jan. 29) as they host Neosho County Community College at 5:30 p.m.
