HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball team suffered a 107-47 loss to Neosho County Community College on Wednesday (Jan. 30). With the loss the Larks fall to 3-16 overall and 1-5 in the Jayhawk Conference.
Neosho County set the pace early, outscoring Hesston 23-10 in the first quarter and extending their lead with a 26-16 advantage in the second. Hesston struggled to find offensive momentum in the second half, scoring just 11 points in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth, while Neosho continued to press, adding 32 and 26 points, respectively. Ball handling played a major part in the game as the Larks committed 59 turnovers.
The Larks were led by Akiva Brown with nine points, 10 rebounds, and an impressive six blocks. Ashleigh Williams and Mariah Hall each contributed eight points.
The Larks will continue KJCCC play on Saturday as they travel to Overland Park, Kan. to take on #2 Johnson County Community College at 2 p.m.
