OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball team fell 104-30 to #2 Johnson County Community College on Saturday (Feb. 1). The Larks struggled offensively, shooting just 20% from the field.
Hesston got off to a slow start, trailing 29-11 after the first quarter, and couldn't find their rhythm against Johnson County's relentless defensive pressure. The Cavaliers extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Larks 34-8 to take a commanding 63-19 advantage into halftime.
Ashleigh Williams led Hesston with eight points, hitting two three-pointers. Auniyeuh Matlock added seven points and three rebounds, while Akiva Brown pulled down a team-high eight boards.
The Larks (3-17, 1-6 KJCCC) will play a non-conference game against Kansas Christian College at home on Monday (Feb. 3) at 6 p.m.
