HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball secured a 59-49 victory over Kansas Christian College on Monday (Feb. 3). The game remained close through the first two quarters, with the Falcons holding a narrow 27-24 lead at halftime. However, the Larks took control in the third quarter, outscoring Kansas Christian 22-11 to create separation and maintain their lead through the final period.
Akiva Brown led Hesston with a dominant double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Brittany Cato provided a significant boost off the bench, hitting four three-pointers on her way to 12 points. Ashleigh Williams also made a key impact inside, contributing eight points and nine rebounds. Hesston's defense played a crucial role in the win, forcing Kansas Christian into 23 turnovers and converting them into 18 points. Hesston controlled the boards throughout the game, finishing with a 65-57 rebounding advantage, which helped generate crucial second-chance opportunities.
The Larks will resume conference play on Wednesday (Feb. 5) as they host Highland Community College at 5:30 p.m.
