HESSTON, Kan. - The Hesston College women's soccer team earned a solid 2–0 win over Central Christian College at Sieber Field on Tuesday evening, powered by two goals from Lissette Tovar and strong team defense that led to a shutout.
Tovar put the Larks on the board in the eighth minute, finishing off a great setup from Susana Martinez and Rena Itoga. Hesston kept the pressure on throughout the first half, taking 11 shots and keeping the Central Christian defense on its heels. Goalkeeper Ashleigh Williams came up big with seven saves before halftime to keep the lead intact.
Early in the second half, Tovar scored again — this time off an assist from Brooklyn Paskett in the 48th minute — giving Hesston a comfortable cushion. Williams stayed sharp in goal, adding four more saves to secure her third shutout of the season. The Larks defense, led by Emilie Romero, Brooklyn Bailey, and Cecilia Solis, held off several late attacks to close out the win.
Hesston finished with 17 total shots and 11 on goal, while Central Christian managed 18 shots but couldn't find the net. The victory moves Hesston to 4–8–1 on the season, giving the Larks positive momentum heading into the final stretch of their fall schedule.
The Larks will be back in action next Tuesday (Oct. 21) against Randall University at home.
