Women's Soccer Races Past Randall

HESSTON, Kan. - The Hesston College women's soccer team delivered a commanding 5–2 victory over Randall University on Tuesday evening (Oct. 21) with an explosive first-half performance and balanced attack leading the way.

Randall struck first in the 13th minute when Victoria Hito found the back of the net to give the Saints an early lead. The Larks answered quickly, however, when Emilie Romero scored in the 17th minute to even the match at 1–1. Just over a minute later, Trinity Garcia converted off an assist from Susana Martinez, and at the 25-minute mark, Brooklyn Paskett extended the lead to 3–1 with a goal assisted by Romero.

In the second half, Randall's Kallie Van Nest cut the deficit to 3–2 in the 62nd minute, but Hesston immediately regained control. Rena Itoga scored twice in less than two minutes—both assisted by Paskett—to put the game out of reach and seal the 5–2 victory for the Larks.

Offensively, Hesston outshot Randall 26–17 and placed 15 shots on goal. Itoga led the attack with two goals on five shots on target, while Paskett contributed one goal and two assists. Romero added a goal and an assist, and Garcia scored once.

In goal, Ashleigh Williams recorded six saves over 68 minutes of play, with Keira Rankin closing out the match. The Larks also demonstrated composure on defense, limiting Randall to just eight shots on goal and holding them scoreless for the final 28 minutes.

The win improves Hesston's record to 5–8–1 on the season as the Larks continue their strong late-season push. The Larks will close out the regular season against Mid-America Christian University on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.
