HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College men's soccer team made history on Friday with a 3-0 win over Kansas Christian College. The win pushed the Larks' record to 10-6-1 marking the first time since 1992 that a men's team at Hesston College has had 10+ wins.
After a scoreless first half in which Hesston generated consistent pressure with 10 shots and three corner kicks, the Larks finally broke through in the 53rd minute. Santi Llanos put Hesston on the board when he finished a setup from Kenji Taira to make it 1–0. Llanos was active throughout, finishing the match with seven shots, four of them on goal.
Hesston continued to push forward and was rewarded again in the 80th minute when Alexander Radu converted a penalty kick to double the lead. Just under three minutes later, the Larks struck once more as Yura Yamazaki finished a pass from Saul Pineda, sealing the 3–0 result and capping off a dominant attacking performance that included 25 total shots and 13 shots on goal.
Defensively, the Larks back line allowed no shots on goal, with goalkeeper Harry Morris earning the shutout without being called upon to record a save. Hesston's midfield and defensive pressure prevented Kansas Christian from registering a shot over the full 90 minutes.
The Larks will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 28) as they host Barclay College at 7 p.m.
