Larks Battle Through Two at Bethel Classic

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Hesston College men's basketball team traveled to North Newton, Kansas to compete in the Bethel Classic, facing Bethel College on Thursday, Nov. 6, and Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday, Nov. 7.

Game 1: Bethel 92, Hesston 81

The Hesston College men's basketball team fell to Bethel College 92–81 on Thursday in North Newton.

Antonio Odum led the Larks with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Trent Thompson added 13 points and 8 rebounds. Off the bench, Rob Gambill knocked down four threes and scored 14 points, and Henry Snyder finished with 9. Hesston shot 50% from the field and received 40 bench points, turning Bethel's turnovers into 23 points to stay within striking distance throughout the game.

Bethel was led by Albert Diarra's 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting as the Threshers maintained a steady lead from the opening minutes.

Game 2: Kansas Wesleyan 93, Hesston 73

The Hesston College men's basketball team fell to Kansas Wesleyan 93–73 on Friday.

Antonio Odum led the Larks with 17 points and 4 rebounds, while Trent Thompson added 14 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds. Rob Gambill scored 11 points with three made threes, and Ky Kougl and Brycten Harris added 9 and 8 points off the bench. Hesston shot 44.8% from three in the game and led by as many as seven in the first half before Kansas Wesleyan used a strong second-half run to take control.

Kansas Wesleyan was led by Gabriel Phillips' 26 points and consistent free throw shooting as the Coyotes pulled away late.

The Larks will travel to Nebraska to play Doane University on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
