HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College men's basketball team put up a strong second-half effort but ultimately fell short against Allen County Community College, losing 81-64 on Saturday (Feb. 8).
Allen County came out firing in the first half, establishing a 39-22 advantage at the break. Hesston struggled to find their rhythm early, shooting just 33.3% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc. The Larks found more success in the second half, matching Allen County with 42 points, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome.
Terryon Stebbins led Hesston with 18 points, shooting an efficient 6-of-10 from the floor while adding eight rebounds and three steals. Jammial Hicks and Christian Hammons contributed 11 points each, with Hicks also dishing out five assists. Hesston's defense showed some grit, forcing 13 turnovers and racking up 10 steals.
The Larks will be back in action on Monday (Feb. 10) as they host Highland Community College at 7:30 p.m.
