HESSTON, Kan. – The Hesston College women's basketball team fell to Fort Scott Community College 76-49 on Saturday (Feb. 15).
Fort Scott came out strong, taking a commanding 25-12 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. Hesston struggled offensively, shooting just 27.6% from the field and 5.9% from three-point range. Fort Scott built their lead with hot shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 10 three-pointers, and capitalized on Hesston's 23 turnovers.
Akiva Brown led the team with 10 points. Ashleigh Williams recorded 9 points and a team-high 9 rebounds, while Anna McIntire added 7 points and 8 rebounds.
Despite a stronger third quarter in which they scored 20 points, Hesston was unable to overcome the early deficit. Fort Scott held a lead as large as 31 points in the fourth quarter.
The Larks will be back in action on Monday (Feb. 17) as they host McPherson College JV at 6 p.m.
