COLBY, Kan. – Trent Thompson was named the KJCCC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Week 14 of the 2024-25 season, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday (Feb. 18). Thompson is the first Hesston men's basketball player to earn player of the week honors this season.
In three games for the Larks last week, Thompson averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per contest while leading Hesston to a pair of home wins. The freshman opened the week with a 24-point outing against Highland to go along with six rebounds before closing out the week by sparking a 24-point second-half comeback against Fort Scott with a 27-point, 17-rebound double-double against the Greyhounds. For the week, Thompson shot 77 percent from the field and 63 percent from beyond the arc along with an 83.3 percent free-throw shooting performance.
Thompson and the Larks will be back in action on Saturday (Feb. 22) as they take on Neosho County Community College at 4 p.m.
