HESSTON, Kan. - The Hesston College men's basketball team closed out the regular season against #9 Johnson County Community College on Wednesday night (Feb. 26), falling 86-67Â at home. The Larks started the game with energy, briefly taking a four-point lead early on, but Johnson County quickly seized control. With strong offensive execution, the visitors surged ahead, scoring 48 points in the first half while Hesston struggled to keep pace, heading into halftime down 48-27.
Despite the deficit, the Larks showed resilience in the second half, improving their offensive rhythm and putting up 39 points. The Larks trimmed the deficit down to 12 at one point, but Johnson County managed to keep the game out of reach as they finished up an undefeated conference slate. Â
Trent Thompson led the Larks with 21 points and eight rebounds, while John Probey contributed 16 points, including two three-pointers. Ky Kougl added nine points and eight rebounds to Hesston's effort.
The Larks earned the fifth seed in the KJCCC Tournament and will take on fourth-seeded Allen Community College on Monday (Mar. 3) in Iola, Kan. at 8 p.m.
