OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Hesston College women's soccer faced a tough challenge on the road Tuesday afternoon, falling 11-0 to undefeated Oklahoma City University. The Stars controlled the tempo early, netting four first-half goals, including strikes from Amelia Horsford in the 13th minute and Ryann Brooks just four minutes later. Hesston's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Keira Rankin, held strong under heavy pressure as she recorded 11 saves on 22 shots on goal.
The second half saw Oklahoma City continue their offensive surge, adding seven more goals, highlighted by a hat trick from Tatum Tallal, who scored in the 37th, 70th, and 73rd minutes. Horsford and Saizlee Carlton each tallied two goals, while Yami Ponce added a pair as well. Hesston created a few chances of their own, with shots from Victoria Ramos, Rena Itoga, Susana Martinez, and Jeulz Dean, but Oklahoma City goalkeeper Candela Blanco stopped the lone shot on goal to preserve the shutout.
Statistically, Oklahoma City outshot Hesston 45-4. Despite the lopsided score, Rankin's effort in goal was a bright spot for the Larks, keeping several close-range attempts out of the net.
The Larks will host Benedictine College on Wednesday (Oct. 1) at 5:00 p.m.
