HESSTON, Kan. – Hesston College women's soccer head coach Eric Sarno has announced his resignation as the head coach of the women's soccer program. Sarno will be returning to his home country of Canada after spending the past two seasons leading the Larks on the pitch. Hesston College Athletic Director Bryan Kehr has announced that Assistant Coach Kade Mitchell will serve as the interim head coach for the 2025 season with a permanent solution to be found after the season is completed.
"The women's soccer team has grown and improved under Eric Sarno's leadership," said Kehr. "We wish Eric the best as he moves on from Hesston and begins a new chapter in Canada."
"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have served as head women's soccer coach at Hesston College," said Sarno. "This experience has been invaluable to me, both personally and professionally. I will always cherish the memories I made with our student-athletes, the dedication of my coaching staff, and the support of our administration. There is great momentum within the program and it will be in great hands with coach Mitchell."
"Eric has brought an added level of stability to women's soccer here and daily showed his care for the group and myself far beyond the happenings on the pitch," said Mitchell. "The game is about relationships and I will always be grateful for the time we spent together here."
Mitchell will take the reigns for the Larks as they head into their first season of competition in the NAIA and NCCAA as a four-year institution.
