The Hesston College women's soccer team collected several all-conference honors in the Continental Athletic Conference as announced by the conference office Nov. 7.
Sophomore forward Rena Itoga (Saitama, Japan) and sophomore defender Emilie Romero (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif) were both named First Team All-Conference. Freshman defender Brooklyn Bailey (Newton, Kan) and sophomore midfielder Lissette Tovar (Wichita, Kan) earned Second Team All-Conference honors. Sophomore defender Aiko Kean'aina (Kahuku, Hawaii) was selected as Hesston's Champions of Character nominee.
Itoga led the Larks in scoring this season with 7 goals and 2 assists, recording 22 shots on goal. Tovar added 4 goals and 2 assists, finishing with 16 shots on goal and serving as an important link in the midfield. On the defensive end, Romero scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists while helping organize the back line. Bailey made a strong impact in her first collegiate season, contributing 2 goals and 7 shots on goal while playing steady minutes along the defensive unit.
Each team in the conference nominates one player who exemplifies the NAIA Champions of Character values of sportsmanship, servant leadership, integrity, responsibility and respect. The Hesston coaching staff selected Kean'aina for the honor, recognizing her leadership, consistency and team-first presence on and off the field.
